Abu Dhabi – With civil unrest escalating in the Arab world, 2008 leading, independent, Presidential Candidate, Daniel Imperato, gave his insight as to how to calm down the situation.
“After several hours of discussions pertaining to the Middle East affairs in regards to obscene cartoons and Middle East unrest, I call on the USA and its administration along with its people to realize that cartoons pertaining to the image of Muhammad were completely unjust and inappropriate,” stated Imperato.
Imperato, commenting from the United Arab Emirates, felt that the Danish media and media around the world should retract the cartoon depicting Muhammad and should issue an apology.
“The media and broadcast companies must show more respect and not allow such inappropriate activities within their organizations. The people of the world should realize that cartoons were created for laughter and joy not for war and disgrace. I call on the people of the world to remember the funny cartoons and to allow forgiveness for this great mistake,” asserted Imperato.
In addition to the cartoons, Imperato also suggested that President George W. Bush’s comments made about the Middle East have added to the situation.
“I call on all the people and companies who have participated in this to publicly apologize and ask for forgiveness. In addition, as I have mentioned in the past, the comments made by our president George W. Bush may have caused uncertainty with the Middle East Pertaining to oil supply particularly with Saudi Arabia,” explained Imperato.
Imperato also pointed to inflammatory language used by Condoleezza Rice in her remarks about the Middle East countries, remarks which have only fueled disturbances in the region.
“The additional insult to injury is Condoleezza Rice’s statements with Iran and Syria participating to heat up terrorists and their organizations and to further erupt unrest in the region is totally uncalled for. My question to Condoleezza rice is why use cartoons and inflammatory language to speak out and to attack the collaboration between Iran and Syria when in fact all this does is add fuel to the fire,” asked Imperato.
Imperato called on the American people for their support in this most crucial of times.
“I call on the American people to support me in my efforts as an American citizen and to realize my experience and my wisdom come from hard work. I will have further comments pertaining to my meetings in the UAE and will make statements of clear fact based upon the political landscape and environment seen to the eyes of the people,” said Imperato.
Imperato concluded with the following remarks: “I stand up for the people of the USA, all of the people, all the time. I say peace not war. I say diplomacy not aggression. I ask for our administration and our president along with Condoleezza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld to take the time to understand the landscape of the region and to set aside politics and to remember at the end of the day it’s the people who get hurt.”
