  • Sharon’s Game of Ping Pong Wastes US Taxpayer Money; Imperato Speaks Out

November 22, 2005 – West Palm Beach, FL – In a landmark press conference, 2008 Presidential Contender, Daniel Imperato, criticized Ariel Sharon for poor leadership and a lack of dedication towards peace.

“I call on Ariel Sharon and his leadership to stop waffling in the line of fire and to stand firm as a supporter of peace in the region. I will stand out and say that I am very disturbed at the Israeli government and their policy and I am wondering if the government lead by Ariel Sharon is not a leadership of true peace,” stated Imperato.

While Sharon has conceded land and granted passage, Sharon has not expressed to his people a need for peace and harmony amongst Israelis and Palestinians.

Additionally, Sharon has made way for terrorist organizations such as Hamas to not only cross over to the West Bank, but have also paved the way for Hamas to participate in the upcoming elections.

This term was part of the so-called ‘landmark deal’ that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice brokered with Ariel Sharon.

“When I become the leader of the United States and its people I will draw the line in the sand and not take an unnecessary spotlight for a lackluster achievement such as Condoleezza Rice and her so-called great achievement of passage,” asserted Imperato.

What Imperato felt was adding insult to failure was the fact that the Israeli/Palestinian situation is costing American taxpayers billions of dollars per year.

“I stand up for the American people to say that it’s about time that we truly evaluate our stance and financial input behind the Israeli policy and the country of Israel. I believe the United States has been in a ping pong match and is the ball being pinged and ponged. It is time that the United States stands up, and stops the game of ping pong that is continuing to milk billions of dollars from the American people paying taxes.”

Imperato suggested that the leaders were using the mere suggestion of peace as a way to keep the influx of US dollars into the region.

Imperato finished his statement with these powerful remarks, “I call out for the leadership of Israel to show the region and the rest of the world that its time for true peace, and to stop playing games and showing mixed emotions pertaining to its country and its stance. Ariel Sharon, its time you look in the mirror and evaluate your waffling and come to a conclusion to stand firm, draw a line in the sand, and work collectively with the United States and the rest of the world in promoting peace, specifically in your region. “

  • Imperato Speaks Out About WMD and Supposed Bush Lies

November 14, 2005 – West Palm Beach, FL – Tonight Daniel Imperato spoke out about the recent stream of press regarding whether or not President George W. Bush lied about our intelligence and Iraq possessing Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs).

“This is an absolute outrage. Our country and our people have no clue as to what has gone on in the Middle East pertaining to this situation,” stated Imperato.

Imperato has been turned off by some of the recent rhetoric used by US politicians to taint the integrity of our administration by raising these uninformed questions.

“Furthermore, some of the United States Senators and politicians are stretching the facts so much, they remind me of Gumby. Our President Bush obviously had a mission to accomplish left by his dad, but please don’t mistake this child’s endeavors as lies. The fact remains that the people in the Middle East that are my friends all know that Saddam Hussein housed Weapons of Mass Destruction and had plans to use them,” said Imperato.

What the American people have failed to realize, according to Imperato, was that the weapons were there but the intelligence made it to the attention of our president and the global community far too late.

Imperato went on to state that “unfortunately, our intelligence didn’t make it to our leaders in real time. The information went through channels and showed up late. Make no mistake about it, Saddam Hussein had the weapons and moved them out faster than we moved in.”

  • Imperato Calls on Lula of Brazil to Maintain Good Relations with US

November 14, 2005 – West Palm Beach, FL – Today, 2008 Presidential Contender, Daniel Imperato calls on President Lula of Brazil to maintain good relations with the United States and vice versa.

“While Brazil has a great opportunity to blossom and be a prosperous country it also has a serious difficulty pertaining to poverty and education. The job and the task of being president of Brazil is not an easy one. While Brazil and its leadership recognize the positive benefits of free trade it also has its reservations for clear reasons,” stated Imperato.

Last week, President George W. Bush met with President Lula Ignacio da Silva, in Brazil in order to discuss free trade and other pertinent US/Brazil issues.

The meeting was following the Americas Summit which ended with no clear agreement for a free trade zone

Imperato stressed that the United States has not done enough to cooperate with its South American partners.

“In my opinion our administration and past administrations, have completely ignored our neighbors in South America who are more important to the United States than others because we are the western hemisphere, connected by land, diverse in culture, with massive natural resources, and the ability to increase manufacturing and productivity from the northern stretches of Canada to the most southern points of Chile,” asserted Imperato.

According to Imperato, combining US strength with that of our South American counterparts, who are making it difficult for US manufacturing to compete on price and wages, could improve the whole region in regards to manufacturing

“I have a plan pertaining to unionized labor and collaboration between the Americas to stabilize wages to increase manufacturing and create more jobs. I can assure you that when my name is on the ballot to represent that people of the United States of America in 2008 this will be an issue,” expressed Imperato.

Imperato, who has many years of experience doing business all over South America, particularly in Brazil, felt that the South American community has been leaning towards socialism for quite sometime now due to a lack of proper US involvement.

In addition, Imperato felt that the lack of US involvement has paved the way for South America’s strong ties with the European Union, particularly, Spain, Italy, and Germany, all of which have deep ties in the region.

Because of those ties and the lack of US involvement in the region, Imperato suggested that South America might be more favorable towards setting up a free trade agreement with the EU.

“While I see clearly that Europe has their hands deeper in the roots of our neighboring South America and that South America would be more interested in free trade with Europe because of the understanding of culture, the mutual respect between cultures, and the basic philosophy of European Society which differs immensely from the United States and the culture of its people,” said Imperato.

Additionally, Imperato also recognized the huge surge of investment in the region from countries like China, Japan, and Korea.

Imperato also recognized the turning over of the Panama Canal as a turning point in the devolution of US relations in the region. He felt that the turning over of the canal opened the door for the influx of investment from Asia Pacific.

Imperato finished his statement with the following remarks, “Working with our neighbors, we can achieve equality, proper wages, education, and a mutually beneficial trade balance that’s accepted by all parties concerned. These are deeply-rooted, serious issues that unconditionally need a man of the world who understands the difference between meat and potatoes of American culture and the European culture of caviar and fine wine. I believe that there is an opportunity here to capitalize for all parties concerned and I hope that one day the people of the United States of America will give me the opportunity to represent our country in the interest of the country and also our neighbors in South America.”

  • Imperato on Panama Canal and South American Relations

November 14, 2005 – West Palm Beach, FL – Today, Daniel Imperato issued a statement on Panama and South American Relations.

“The greatest loss that our country has ever had, in my opinion, pertaining to South America, is the loss of control of the Panama Canal,” stated Imperato.

Imperato referred to the Panama Canal as the ‘gateway into South America’ for import and export.

He also stressed the need for our administration to have someone that understands Panama.

“Being that I’ve spent time in Panama and worked with companies in the free trade zone, I understand clearly the facts on the zones, its country, and its political position and focal point as international gateway into South America.”

During his address, he asserted that the influence in the region has changed from American to Asia Pacific.

“The Asia-Pacific heavy investment into the Panama Canal has unconditionally given a stronghold on the flow of products coming in and out of South America. The first priority in most societies and in South America is price. In the Asia-Pacific for the moment because of their labor leniencies are able to support the low cost products.”

Prior to the strong Asia-Pacific presence in the region, Europe was the primary supplier of products that passed through the ‘Panamanian Gateway’.

Imperato felt that this presented an opportunity for the US and EU to work together to reestablish a stronger presence in the region.

“I believe there’s an opportunity here for the European Union and the United States of America to collaborate and to consider joint efforts to supply technology, equipment and education to the region. This along with the increase in manufacturing and export will assist South America in becoming a good competitor in the global environment once again.”

However Imperato was quick to point out that he did support manufacturing in the US, but stressed the need to maintain ties with our South American neighbors.

“I unconditionally support the United States of America and its people pertaining to the US jobs program and increased manufacturing in the United States. But I also know that if we don’t combat cheap labor, and utilize our neighbors to capitalize on products and services, we stand a chance to lose our South American partners to other countries who will reap the benefits of low cost products from South America.”

Imperato wanted to remind the Bush administration that we are the western hemisphere, and that if we want to be stronger we must make our neighbors stronger as well.

Then Imperato concluded his address with the following comments, “On another note we also have to address the Caribbean and the islands at a further date. The United States of America must without a doubt work fast and furious to regain respect by showing its support to its neighboring South American countries along with our intelligence agencies, our banking and finance departments, and our ability to increase the hallway of security as a joint effort across the western hemisphere.”

  • 2008 White House Contender Speaks Out About Terrorism and Terrorist Groups

November 12, 2005 – West Palm Beach, FL – In light of recent events, Daniel Imperato spoke out today against terrorism and terrorist groups. During his address, he pointed out to the roots our global terrorism problems.

“In my opinion our administration has dropped the ball since the Clinton inappropriate obscene acts in the White House, causing a delay in taking action against Al-Qaeda. While Clinton played the blues, Al-Qaeda organized and grew in power and nothing was done because of Al Gore’s presidential run against George W. Bush. The ball was dropped,” stated Imperato.

“Our new administration and George Bush Jr. inherited the 9/11 attacks based upon the first punch thrown by Clinton, a punch with no power behind it. Then, in light of the fact that George Bush didn’t remove Saddam the first time, there was a clear vendetta against Saddam that George Bush Jr. had on his agenda. Obviously the threat of terrorism from the Al –Qaeda organization was rooted in Afghanistan.”

Imperato felt that the job in Afghanistan was never finished and that the focus of our ‘War on Terror’ shifted from Al-Qaeda to the ‘Axis of Evil’ which Imperato said was a clever way to focus on Saddam Hussein.

“Unconditionally our administration did not finish the job on terrorism and immediately linked the threat of terrorism to attack Saddam Hussein and to remove him from power in Iraq. While I believe the removal of Saddam Hussein was necessary, a move that was unconditionally supported by the Middle Eastern countries, it was not executed with the proper intelligence, security measures and an intention to just remove Saddam from power,” expressed Imperato.

Since then, Imperato has suggested that the region is moving towards an Armageddon scenario, pointing to the recent conflicts with Syria, Iran, and the death of the Lebanese Prime Minister, Rafik Hariri.

Imperato believes that organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al-Qaeda are capitalizing on this instability in a collaborative movement.

“This statement I’m making is a warning to the region that this insane attack on the Jordanian and in my opinion is a direct result from the combination and collaboration of terrorist lowlife filth. They have been playing chess and flip flopping on every terrorist attack by each one playing a game and taking responsibility when the fact is that they are all terrorists and they need to be removed from the face of the earth.”

In light of all of the recent turmoil in the region, Imperato called on the Arab League to step up and play a larger role in the region, uniting the countries in the region as well as the US.

“I’m extremely disturbed at our administration for delaying the pinpoint approach on al-Qaeda and further distraught that countries in the Middle East have not taken further measures to rid themselves of these criminals. Its time now that the Arab league step up with the collaboration of all countries in the region, and put down the religious animosity and beliefs of who’s right and who’s wrong under the almighty father’s word.”

Imperato then pointed to the attacks on Amman, Jordan as part of a strategic plan designed to stir up the confusion and animosity amongst the Middle Eastern community.

“This has been done to specifically create civil unrest between the very Middle Eastern societies who are rightfully projecting hatred and cynicism against the terrorists. The entire region and their leaders should come together, step up to the plate, and realize that it should not matter if you are a Christian, a Muslim, a Jew, or of any other religious beliefs. What truly matters is the content of one’s character,” asserted Imperato.

Imperato called on the leaders of the region to stand up against these ‘radical rats’ that have ‘seeped through the pipelines’ and gained access to our way of life. In an attempt to hurt areas that have an American interest, the terrorists, in Imperato’s view, have destroyed areas that are enjoyed by locals, and the entire world.

Imperato then suggested that a joint effort in the Middle Eastern region be formed by “putting together a firm collaborated group of intelligence and military force, utilizing the resources of all the countries in the region to combat and eliminate the spread of civil unrest and hatred amongst the people.”

“You can’t tell me that the combination of force between the world powers and the local Syrian, Iranian, Israeli, Jordanian, Egyptian and Saudi Arabian security organizations cannot snuff out these degenerates. With a country like Israel, who has the most sophisticated intelligence on earth and a military capability second to none, a country like Syria, who has a very powerful army, a government like Saudi Arabia, who has plenty of funds, the resilient Egyptians who have proven to desire peace, and Iran, who has become a global force, we cannot root out these lowlifes.”

Imperato then finished his statement with the following remarks, “I call on the United Nations to forge a program of a special security force with a combination of the region’s capabilities to snuff out and dismantle these organizations. We must learn to respect our neighbor and understand that all human beings are all the same and basically live the same. There is a clear dividing difference between peace and terrorism, not a dividing difference between religion, land, and cultures. It is that difference that doesn’t allow us to accept terrorism in our homes, on our streets, and with our children.”

  • US Presidential Contender Sends Condolences to Jordanian Royal Family and Citizens

Following today’s shocking terrorist attacks in Amman, Jordan, 2008 US Presidential Contender, Daniel Imperato sent his most sincere condolences to the Jordanian Royal Family and its citizens.

“This is an absolute outrageous and disgusting act that has taken place in the country of Jordan. Obviously, this touches the very hearts and souls of the local people and the rest of the Middle Eastern communities,” stated Imperato.

The three suicide attacks were responsible for killing at least 57 people in Amman. Currently, police have started running DNA tests to try and identify the bombers.

An explosive carrying vehicle blew up outside the Days Inn, while two suicide bombers were responsible for the attacks on the Hyatt Hotel and the Radisson SAS.

“My condolences go out to the affected families, lost friends and loved ones, from this disgusting act. While I will reserve my comments for the moment, in consideration of the suffering people, grieving and experiencing tremendous pain, the comments will come at a later date,” expressed Imperato.

Immediately after the blasts, King Abdullah inspected the sites of the blasts after returning from his visit in Kazakhstan.

“I have such a high respect for King Abdullah and his beautiful wife Queen Rania and give them all my support. King Abdullah has taken on a huge responsibility for such a young man, and my prayers go out to him to be strong and not to allow this criminal act to disrupt his kingdom or his fine peaceful demeanor,” commented Imperato.

Imperato expressed that during these times of tragedy, we must bind together to make peace and stop these type of atrocities.

“I am sure that justice will be done and believe that this crime will open the eyes of the entire region triggering a mutual respect, and an alliance by and between all societies in the region to ban together and stomp out terrorism and denounce their organizations.”

  • Presidential Hopeful Imperato comments on India and Recent Terrorist Attacks

November 4, 2005 – West Palm Beach, FL – Today 2008 Presidential Hopeful, Daniel Imperato commented on the recent events in India.

“First of all my condolences go to all of the families affected by this terrible terrorist activity and I give my support for the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, and a special condolence if in fact any of the family members of Rattan Tata family or the Lyla Athide families have been personally affected.”

Imperato, during his 30 years of global business experience, has been involved with many projects in the region.

“I’ve had a great pleasure and honor of doing business in the country of India, and have a lot of respect for the Indian people and their courage for struggling everyday with an environment that was so far behind modern times pertaining to infrastructure and transportation, but still had the courage to fight their way up the ladder and to become recognized as a global player in several industries,” commented Imperato.

Recently, we have seen terrorist attacks of this nature occur in London and Spain, and now India.

“It only goes to show you that the terrorist organizations are spread out all over the world and are reaching out to attack countries with less security infrastructure than the United States of America,” said Imperato.

Due to the strength of India’s telecommunications engineers and software developers, Imperato felt that India should be able to overcome future targeted attacks by utilizing the latest and greatest in security communications and infrastructure.

“I hope one day I have the opportunity to work hand in hand with the Indian government in assisting them with their global vision and desire to become a more economically stable country and of course now, more secure,” expressed Imperato, who has advised governments around the world on many issues including security.

Imperato went on to finish his statement the following remarks, “While doing business in India, I found the people to be some of the most simplistic, peaceful, down-to-earth, caring citizens. I hope and pray that they come through this disaster like a shining star and wish that the people of this wonderful country will not have to experience additional terrorist attacks because I have faith in the Indian Government and companies like the Tata group to come up with measures to protect their citizens.”

  • The Imperato Peace Plan for Israel and Palestine

The Imperato Peace Plan for Israel and Palestine

Imperato speaks out about Abbas Visit to the White House, and his peace plan for the region.

Today, 2008 White House Hopeful thanked Mahmoud Abbas for reaching out and taking the time to visit the United States and meet with our President George W. Bush, with mutual respect and consideration for the administration and the people of the United States of America.

“I do believe that the Palestinian leader is truly stepping up to try and create a better image for his people and to try to reconcile differences concerning the past leadership,” expressed Imperato, who has stressed the importance of a peaceful resolution in the region.

Imperato called for the PLO Chairman to understand the roots of the problem.

“I would like to point out to Chairman Abbas to have kind consideration for his people and his neighbors and to understand that the roots of these difficulties come from the children and what they are taught.”

Additionally, Imperato called for Abbas to separate himself from terrorist organizations.

“He must completely divorce himself from any terrorist organizations and denounce himself and his people’s associations or support for organizations such Hamas, and Hezbollah. These organizations thrive off of inappropriate activities, money laundering, and profit from the purchase and sale of weapons and the ultimate use of those weapons.”

By further denouncing these groups, Imperato felt that Abbas would establish greater credibility for his organization and further the peace process.

The next step, according to Imperato would be to approach these organizations from the ‘bottom-up’.

“These terrorist organizations are built in similar fashion as a military army, or organization would be setup. These organizations pay their soldiers and students salaries in order for them to work for their organizations or their group as any military does including organizations like Al-Qaeda, and the insurgents. I believe that a massive campaign for recruiting their students, their offices, and their people should be launched. With the power of payment and the guarantee of a monthly salary for a good paying job and for an education, we would have the first and foremost grass-roots program that would be needed from the foundation up in order to begin to effectuate change.”

However, throughout this process, Imperato called on the Arab League again to take a center role.

“I once again call on the Arab League to hold a conference with the leaders of all organizations and all countries to sit down and to treat one another with mutual respect and try to understand what each other is trying to accomplish, for their organizations, their people, but most importantly for their very own children,” stated Imperato.

Imperato then called on Mahmoud Abbas to request a cease-fire and cease-terrorism and open dialogue with Ariel Sharon, the Arab League, and the United States to discuss the real intentions of a Palestinian state.

Analyzing the situation, Imperato pointed to the obvious ties between the media and the terrorist organizations that seek to spread fear amongst the people.

“I believe that these inappropriate organizations are all intertwined with the propaganda in the region to create instability in order to continue the funding of weapons to their organizations from military manufacturing facilities from different powers and different countries around the globe.

Imperato went on to call for a stricter policy in regards to the manufacturing and distribution of weapons and of the movement of monies related to those purchases.

Then Imperato stated that the brute force removal of Israelis from their homes was not necessary for the peace process and Abbas should respect that Israel allowed the Palestinians refuge and concessions, when they could have used military force.

According to Imperato, he felt that in order to establish peace, Israel and Palestine should look towards the United States as a blueprint of democracy.

“I believe the majority of people in Israel including the Palestinians are for peace. So instead of trying to cut up the land, why don’t you consider it a country and why don’t you cut up different states with special designation similar to the 50 states in America. Each state has its own local government, its own religious values, and is allowed to run its own autonomous state under what I would call the United States of Israel.”

Imperato then compared Palestinians land claims to those of American Indians, pointing to the concessions and special permissions that American Indians receive from the US government as opposed to war between the two parties.

He also noted that the American Indians have their own land which they call home, but also have the strength of the United States of America.

“I call on Mahmoud Abbas, and Ariel Sharon to consider the United States of Israel, and to consider establishing states within the greater country for the greater good. Instead of trying to divide the land, keep it united and make peace with your neighbor and get special concessions for the states that would be in and under the United States of Israel. The Palestinian leadership could be setup amongst the individual states with each individual state having the right to have different rules and regulations per state as we do in the United States of America.”

Imperato then suggested that the implementation of Real Estate could play a major role in the region. Instead of the government ceasing property and giving away, Imperato felt that the land should be auctioned off, with each man and woman, regardless of background, Palestinian or Israeli, would have an equal opportunity to buy land wherever they pleased, just as you could in the United States.

“I suggest that the territories that Israel have been able to give up become Palestinian states within the country and that the land is given to each state so that it then can be sold to its citizens,” stated Imperato.

With individual ownership of land, Imperato pointed to property rights and how difficult it would be for the government to take back that land.

He also called for special concessions for development, with financing available for housing in subdivisions and communities.

The next step for Imperato is to meet with Abbas and Sharon to present his plan.

“I would welcome the opportunity to meet with Sharon, and Abbas, to discuss my plan and to try to rally support from the Arab League and the surrounding countries, including all organizations, to beg the difference with them and to try and open their eyes to a peaceful solution, not to an Armageddon.”

Imperato then outlined the poor diplomacy that has taken place in the region.

“The most recent disastrous dialogue between the US, Israel, Syria, and Iran, is uncalled for, disgusting, and this rhetoric must stop. The people of the United States of America and the people of the world need a man of the world to lead the free world and to see clearly a peaceful solution considerate to all parties concerned. I believe that I could be that person. I will leave it up to our administration for the time being, and put it in the hands of the people of the United States to consider supporting me in my efforts for sound, secure, and peaceful resolve to all our global situations that are creating hate, animosity, and are based on negative connotations, including the rhetoric in our own administration.”

Imperato then commented on how the US could demand respect, and ‘force democracy down the mouths’ of foreign countries when our own administration is ‘falling apart’.

This made reference to the recent indictments of White House officials, most notably Dick Cheney’s Vice Presidential Chief of Staff, Scooter Libby.

Imperato felt that Bush was not in a position to be making demands when other countries are seeing the problems here at home.

Imperato concluded his statement with the following remarks, “In my opinion, we may be heading for major disaster and we will not be able to turn back. Remember during Perestroika, our previous president Bill Clinton said that he was surprised at himself to become president of the United States, without any foreign policy experience, as Governor of Arkansas. The roots of some of our problems stemmed from the Clinton administration’s inexperience on foreign policy and the current administration’s inability to change course. Please do not only blame our president and his administration but also put the blame on the past Clinton administration. Remember the embarrassment that that administration brought to our nation, and remember that President Clinton pushed a button that should have never been pushed, and now, here we are.”

  • Presidential Candidate Imperato Speaks Out for the First Time After Hurricane Wilma

Today, Daniel Imperato issued his first statement in regards to Hurricane Wilma.

“Hurricane Wilma blasted through my living room in my apartment building in West Palm Beach, causing my story building to sway and crack. The chandeliers were swaying, the walls were cracking, and water was seeping in through the hurricane shutters and the window sills,” said Imperato.

Imperato went on to further describe the destruction he experienced as a result of the recent storm.

“I had been without food, water, electricity, and experienced what most people would not understand unless it happened to them. I took the first time out to drive down to Miami, and found gasoline lines miles long, the majority of the telephone polls, both wooden and concrete snapped in half, and chaos on the streets. I am sure that you‘ve all seen this on TV, of course I haven’t because I had no TV until today. There are so many subjects that need to be discussed but to keep it to the point I believe that judgment has been brought upon us; there is more to come and we must prepare ourselves for more disasters.”

Imperato, a veteran of many hurricanes in the South Florida region, commented on his past experiences.

“As the Presidential Hopeful for the people, I come to inform you that I have experienced both hurricanes last year, Gene and Francis. The first hurricane ripped through my living room doors, while I was assisting unfortunate people in my building. The second one did the same. It was a nightmare. For days we had no power, no food; it was like a war zone.”

The response from our administration and FEMA was, according to Imperato, “again, not well-prepared.”

However, Imperato was quick to add that putting all of the blame on President Bush is not fair. He pointed to problems in FEMA that existed before the administration of George W. Bush.

Imperato also commended Florida Governor Jeb Bush, for taking responsibility for the slow response taking some of the weight from FEMA, and the administration of his brother, George W. Bush.

During his statement, Imperato pointed out the differences between his strategy and that of the Bush Administration, but also expressed his support.

“Keeping in mind, that while I disagree with the foreign policy of our president, we must not forget that many of the situations that our country has been brought into have not only been because of this administration, but because of the past administrations that brought us to where we are today. While I would welcome the opportunity to take his seat as the President of the United States of America, I must also say that in times of disaster we must support our neighbors, and our president, and keep in mind that no one wants to see anybody suffer.”

Imperato then went on to outline his plan for dealing with natural disasters. He pointed out that things should have been put in place much sooner than they were pertaining to Wilma, but also that many, himself included, were taken by surprise from the enormous carnage caused by Wilma.

“We must come up with a strategy pertaining to future events of this nature. We need to allocate land and to build disaster proof facilities with storage of food and water so that people can be directed to those facilities across the country.”

“I also believe that there is a solution to the gas problems that could have been much more effective for the citizens, who like myself, waited countless hours in line to get gas. My recommendation to the administration would be to be able to convert gasoline trucks to onsite pumping stations to be able to have automobiles fill their gas tanks directly from roadside gasoline mobile facilities adaptable for public use.”

The Emergency Management Plan outlined by Imperato, included allocating land across the country to build disaster-proof facilities with storage of food and water, as well as utilizing gasoline trucks as on-site pumping stations so that people could fill their tanks directly from the pump.

“I believe that these facilities should be in designated areas across the country in what I would call emergency hotspots alongside or nearby major highways. I believe that these facilities could be federally funded programs. The last thing that I would like to point out is that the elderly people, who are taking a beating for their inability to be able to be as movable as others, must have some type of designated secure structure that houses medical products that may be needed to save lives.”

Though the response from the people and local officials was tremendous, Imperato felt that there were a few sore spots that heightened tensions during this trying time.

“The last point is that our law enforcement agencies should learn how to deal with citizens in a peaceful manner, without using brutality and flexing their muscles for no reason. I personally experienced a brutal policeman that verbally assaulted me for no good reason. Like the situation in Louisiana, I was threatened to be arrested and have my vehicle towed after I waited two hours in line for $25 worth of gas and asked a local policeman a simple question about taking pictures of recovery efforts. He acted like a bully, with a bald head, and 6’2” frame, act as though he was a drill sergeant in a war zone with no rights other than ego.”

Imperato supported reprimanding policemen who utilized excessive force on citizens when situations do not warrant the use of such force. He also called police departments across the country to look into the characters of these types of officers as they might be extending excessive forces beyond the streets and into their homes and families.

Imperato concluded his statement with the following remarks, “Overall, I believe the recovery has gone well, but the storm was an enormous blow to Florida Power and Light. I believe that the electric utility stations must look at more secure methods of protecting their facilities from natural disasters and access to their facilities through higher security and more surrounding physical protection around the facilities. I look forward to announcing my full commitment to participate in the race for the White House in 2008. Thank you, and God Bless.”
